Guido Haytzmann

PhD Student

I am a Physicist who has recently defended the master degree entitled "Trace gases exchange between the free troposphere and the planetary boundary layer in the Amazon". I am starting my PHD on the first semester of 2024, in the University of São Paulo (USP).

During the PhD, I want to understand how the South American Tropopause Aerosol Layer (SATAL) is formed. My hypothesis are that during the dry season in central Amazonia, deep convection clouds transport biomass burning plume from the boundary layer to the upper troposphere. In order to evaluate that I will use a large eddy simulation (LES) model in partnership with the meteorology group of Wageningen University.
